Training at EDYC in 2022 updated Jan 22

Training will be an essential and fundamental element of our 2022 season. In ideal circumstances our club could undertake a training needs analysis and database the results. Thus we can manage appropriate courses, however we operate on a simpler level.

We seek an indication of your training wishes now by your completion and return of a simple word form (or just email). Completion of this form will indicate what training you (or family and friends) are considering. Not all will know of the courses which can be provided the following list will help. Each course can be further detailed by links and searches mainly to the RYA web site. The RYA web is the dominant information source for RYA endorsed qualifications. Your form (or email) will be acknowledged on receipt by gp14edyc@talktalk.net and later details will be sent of courses you are interested in as they develop (likely early spring). Please communicate with us as the club needs this information.

At this time of year (Jan) it is the shore based courses which are under most consideration, with only some water activity early spring.

First Aid Course – this is commonly required in early spring

Our RYA one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages. This course is MCA approved and satisfies the requirements for Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat certificates of competence and some commercial work afloat.

The National Scheme courses for both Dinghy and Keelboat (subject to RYA approval) are to be offered and this link will outline the dinghy courses and this link the Keelboat courses

Finally – other courses such as Diesel Engine maintenance and others can be provided subject to demand and instructor availability.

FEES – the club operates a fee structure which discounts for club membership, so if you are a non-member you may expect to be paying near market prices. The club discounts for multiple members of the same family attending courses together.
