With the forecast for rain at 15:00 the club met at around 12:00 expectant of a downpour. The cruise destination was selected on wind direction. After a wait to see if the rain at Carryduff would arrive, we made our way to the cruisers as the chevvy photo shows. On the water photos were marred by the rain and drizzle which started as we got on the boats but after a cruise in light consistent wind towards mark 16 Chapel Island, then mark 10 Marlfield, then mark 5 DunnyNeil we returned to our moorings and again the chevvy did taxi work. Back at the clubhouse the Bar-b-que was alight and shortly there was food, wine and hidden haribo for the children to find, followed by ice lollies, cake, tea and more orange and wine. Later the plates were cleaned by the commodore and his wife, working together on their 34th wedding anniversary, hence the last photo. Thanks to all who attended and to those who worked with the food and games. The Commodore’s Cruise Sun 18 Sept 16 at East Down Yacht Club suited the new format and sets a milestone in this wandering feast’s history
