Wayfarers “Three Meals, Three Islands Challenge”.
Hi everyone,
A challenge has been suggested by one of our Wayfarers and I liked the sound of it so much that it will go ahead on Saturday 19th August.
The challenge will be to make three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner on three different islands around Strangford Lough over the course of one day. Each boat will be totally self sufficient as regards cooking their own meals, bringing all their food and the means to cook it. We will also be individually responsible for removing all traces of meal preparations and our rubbish on each island afterwards…eg leave only your footprints.
The plan will be to leave the slipway early, approx 9:30am, and head to our first island. Anyone not wishing to spend the whole day on the water may prefer to head out late morning or afternoon to link up with the other boats and cook a meal later in the day.
As yet the plans are only starting to take place but you will be kept informed of developments. This day out is planned to get as many new and experienced sailors on the water for a fun day out. Kayakers, GP sailors, Leisure 17 boats etc etc can join us although larger craft must bring their tenders to get ashore.
All these plans are subject to weather conditions and our exact route will not be decided until a couple of days before.
I hope you can put this date in your diaries as it promises to be a fun day out.
Have a look at this chart link to consider a plan
