Youth from EDYC and other clubs had a great weekend of sailing with no wind on Saturday and really difficult conditions on Sunday. This was at the RYANI Youth Championships 2024 hosted at SLYC on 7 and 8 Sept 24. Our youth sailors gave it their all in these RYA Youth Championships and everyone of them should be very proud of themselves. We certainly are.
Very well done to Charlie and Alannah on their well deserved second place in tough Feva competition.
Well done to Jakub and Abbie securing first in the 28er nationals running parrallel to the youth champs.
A super experience for them all in a large competition with over 130 boats on the water. There were 8 fleets racing. Namely, Optimists, Topper 4.2’s, Topper 5.3’s, ILCA 4’s, ILCA 6’s, RS Feva’s, 29er’s and a Regatta Fleet.
Several parents and volunteers assisted as we sent two RIBs on Saturday leaving at 08:15 and three RIBs on Sunday similar time to support – contributing to the total of 21 support boats plus committee boats and mother ships. A well organised event which coped with both ends of the sailing wind spectrum.
