EDYC AGM brief report & news Dec24

Our club AGM took place on the first Sunday in Dec 1st Dec and was preceeded by the prizegiving.

This is a brief report and post AGM news for Dec24, in a relatively quiet period of club activity. Storm Darragh is currently passing the club (weekend of 7/8 Dec24) and little on water activity is expected.

The AGM accomplished its set business with reports and accounts plus the election of officers. Some members motions were voted upon and the next club year will be undertaken with relatively similar members in officer posts.

The number of members in attendance shown in the above pic was considered good even though a number of dinghy sailors were active on the water at other clubs.

Perhaps one point from the floor at the meeting was that general members were not being made aware of the activity of the Executive and other club aspects and this may be remedied in the new year. The various whatsapp groups are active but not always with solely club related material, however the older newsletter/newsheet approach needs a champion and an editor should the club wish to revert to this. The Exec made the point that all major projects were put in front of members before advancing and that contacting them had never been easier.

Some brief news notes follow – obviously we are looking for a suitable new committee boat, a task which is quite demanding on expertise, time (daylight) and travel. The Icicles series – a set of dinghy races at our club is comming up after the Xmas break, assistance will be very welcome. All our club RIBs are now serviced and will be available for this race series. Our tractor has been fitted with a new window and needs a new key switch which is to be fitted soon. The bar kitchen is being improved. An outboard storage survey at EDYC has been commenced in November and is progressing very slowly. Our Chevvy has been kept in the water to facilitate members with mooring activity and will be taken out soon. It is not running well and needs attention. Some training is being planned and hopefully will include a short in-house Outboard Motor course, plus normal RYA First Aid. Feel free to chat with your officers or other members on any aspect of interest, most details are in the 2024 handbook and obviously the 2025 handbook is a new task early in the year.
