This news post is to inform our club members (who may be in hibernation) that the club is active and running a dinghy race series on Saturdays in Jan and early Feb – details previously published in our web post – link. This curent post as well as informing is also a way of adding to our club rolling history.
The races are very well received and commented upon by several of the competitors and many volunteers are putting in great efforts and time ensuring all is well delivered.
If you are a couch potato, for your interest (or not), on the race of Sat 17 Jan the air temperature was 8 degrees and the water temperature was 7 degrees. That was a relatively warm set of race conditions, launches have taken place over slipways with some frost earlier.
After racing, the competitors and volunteers have offerings of soup served in the McRobert room with up to five varieties of soup to choose from, accompanied by bread and butter if desired. Tea and coffee also has been available – meaning competitors have a chance to sit round and discuss the racing and perhaps other aspects of life.
The event is well run and competitor communication utilises many of the common IT applications in current use, with WhatsApp and facebook being worth mention. The organising committee has its own WhatsApp group and the competitors have a separate group. The most, the best photos and videos are on the competitors whatsapp group.
