EDYC ran an RYA Level II Powerboat Course on the Saturday and Sunday of 14th and 15th Oct 17 with all six candidates successful.
Report
Weather on Saturday was calm and allowed the course to introduce the high speed boat handling skills and to start the close manoeuvring work. It also permitted a short cruise through Ringhaddy sound. Sunday was more challenging with a southerly wind often reaching 18 kn and a two foot swell running, also from the south. Again skills were introduced and honed and boats visited the KYC pontoon and the river mouth in Killyleagh. The river mouth at half tide being used for exercises of turning in a confined space. The course concluded with some anchoring experience and some chevvy driving. About a dozen photos have been put in a gallery on site, no cameras were harmed during the wet and bouncy sessions in the boats. Thanks to our participants and instructors.
